At Least One Point of Pride

Friday, 25. July 2008 by Tungsten

It is a well known fact that sports fans take personal pride in their favorite teams’ wins and feel the sting of those same teams’ losses, and I have to say that this year, with the exception of the Lakers to a point, I have been feeling that sting. Sure the Dodgers are doing well enough but baseball season is so damn long I forget it is there and it is really unlikely that Dodgers are going to take it much further than the National League playoffs (although I do expect to see them wipe the floor with the Giants tonight). And, I don’t really want to talk about the 49ers right now (yes, I am an LA fan through my parents being from Taft but when they were growing they became 49ers through their parents because LA had no football team for my grandparents to cheer for until the Rams moved to in and by then it was too late). Needless to say, I don’t think I’m planning a red, black, and gold Super Bowl party anytime soon.

Which is why I am glad one of my favorite alternasports team is producing some wins. They aren’t taking the big win but Team Columbia has racked up the stage win in the Tour de France. Go home team!
